Energy functions in content-aware image resizing
Yu. Shyyka and R. Shuwar
Different aspects of construction and application of energy functions for the problems of content-aware image processing are considered. In addition to the functions known from the literature, we suggest to apply high-pass filter based on fast Fourier transform as the energy function. Using the program implementation of the Seam Carving method, different energy functions are studied. The peculiarities of utilization, as well as advantages and shortcomings of the energy functions under test are discussed. A dependence of the average energy of image upon the image dimension is suggested as a criterion for efficiency of different energy functions.
